Cooks Sportland first opened in 1954 in Monroe Michigan and because Edith and Ray Cook fell in love with the Venice area during a winter vacation, they relocated here in 1968 and have been at the same location since. Cooks offers a full line of fishing equipment and accessories, camping gear, camouflage and western clothes, fishing clothes, knives, archery, guns and ammo as well as the hard to find gear, such as Frisbee golf equipment, Minnetonka moccasins and a good supply of shuffleboard equipment. A visit to Cooks Sportland is like a trip to a museum, the walls are lined with heads of mounted animals and counters full of the skulls of different creatures.
